How a desiccant dehumidifier works

A desiccant dehumidifier captures moisture from the air using a rotating rotor filled with absorbent material, where the moisture is trapped. This moisture is then transported to a separate part of the dehumidifier where a built-in heating element heats up the absorbent material. The heat causes the moisture to be released from the rotor and blown on to a condenser. In the condenser, the moist air is converted into liquid water, which is either collected in a built-in water tank or drained away via a hose.

This process has a positive side effect, as heat is used to release the moisture, the desorption dehumidifier helps to raise the temperature in the room slightly. This makes it particularly suitable for cold spaces such as holiday homes, boats and caravans, where both dehumidification and a slight increase in temperature may be desirable.
