    Ozone school

Our ozone school aims to clarify the subject of ozone and its functions. On the following pages you will learn more about ozone in general and deepen your knowledge about ozone production and technology.

Ozone occurs naturally – partly as a protective layer against ultraviolet rays in the stratosphere, partly as ground-level ozone in the atmosphere. Ozone is often associated with environmental dangers, the thinning of the ozone layer and an elevated level of ground-level ozone.

The fact is that ozone serves the purpose of disinfecting air and water in many industrial processes (such as the bleaching of paper mass). Ozone is a highly reactive molecule that is very much in demand due to its strong oxidation properties. The use of ozone in purification is a tried and tested procedure.

Ozone units and ozone generators are used to eliminate odours in restaurants, kitchens, refuse rooms and sanitary facilities, as well as to refresh air in vehicles, hotel rooms and residential spaces.

    Warning!

Please use the ozone generator with care.

One must not enter the room being treated with ozone during the procedure, as ozone can irritate the respiratory system. When using ozone generators up to ca. 500 mg/hour it is possible to enter the room briefly (ca. 10-15 minutes). If more powerful ozone units are used (e.g. after fire damage), the room being treated should not be entered under any circumstances. Entering into rooms with continuous ozone treatment (e.g. refuse rooms), with only very brief exposure to ozone, is not harmful.

If the ozone generator is to be used for treating air or eliminating odours in rooms that people spend time in (such as sanitary facilities in locker rooms), one should ensure a low ozone concentration below the prescribed values (see below). By installing an ozone monitor with an ozone sensor, which regulates the ozone generator according to a set value, one can ensure that the hygienic limit values are never exceeded.

    Hygienic limit values for ozone:

    Maximum limit (8 hours) = 0,1 ppm
Upper threshold value (15 minutes) = 0,3 ppm
    (ppm = parts per million)
